Fashion Remix

This year I am having the opportunity of participating in the Fashion Remix Competition which will be held April 19th 2012. My team was sponsored through Nexus Architecture where we will be competing with other teams for the grand prize. Fashion Remix is an event where they put together various fashion and interior design students with designers, architects and the project is to build dresses out of a vendor that supplies these firms products. For example if a team was sponsored by tile then they would have to put together a dress  made out of tile. The pictures above are what past designers have done for the competition of designing the dresses out of materials.
Don't forget to buy your tickets!

Childrens Book Table

Who would have guessed that a bunch of children's book could be so useful as to make a table
for my lamp to go on. My friend Roxy gave me a bunch of books, as I was looking through them all I came across a childhood favorite entitled Blueberries for Sal. Its a sweet book about picking blueberries and following your mother. So next time you see a lot of books put them together, you have a table you can read from.

these are the books for my table!

Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream

Perfect weather to paint a project! While I painted I listened to my favorite song Empire of the Song, I can seriously play that song on repeat over and over, which I did.

On Thursday Justin, Jesse and Roxy and I made a trip to Lowes and bought wood, paint and nails for a portfolio display project I needed to finish. This morning I started the project, laid magazines down etc.

then I finished.

design work is not always pretty, well look at me!

Planning and Designing My Wedding.

Weddings can be stressful, expensive, and very much a piece of cake if you planned and designed how I did. I was on a really tight budget and had to be very creative when it came to how and what I should do.  My colors were navy and I wanted a vintage/traditional wedding theme tagged along with navy implied into the design. So I decided to save money, I decided to have a dinner reception instead of inviting 500 people, standing in long lines for hours of the night and not enjoying a moment at all. So I invited 150 guest to my dinner reception. This was quite the task because we had to mail out rsvp cards and wait for a response, it was fun creating our table chart for each guest to know where they would sit.  I decided to find a place that the interior could be it's own decorative piece, and that way saving on high costs to make a space look presentable. I choose on the lion house located in Salt lake City. The house was a historical home and we rented out the whole top floor, having them install a dance floor and the end of the hall way. I choose on a very simple flower, baby breath, to be my flowers for literally EVERYTHING! I had meet with my wedding coordinator from the lion house Merchandise, and with her I told her my vision for my wedding. It was fun! We had 21 tables and each table had a navy table cloth and a different vintage lace overlay for each table, there was not one vintage table cloth that had looked the same, it was seriously a traditional vintage twist that I had thought of. I had the lion house take out all the ugly wax flowers and my flower girl Rachel replaced them all with real baby breath flowers. It was breathtaking!!!  Everything was simple!!!! So to my favorite part and I will wrap this up, we played BINGO at my wedding! I thought of all the times, the bride and groom cut the cake and how they never eat it. Well, my cake was served with the cake to our guest for desert! While eating cake we played a game of BINGO!! My mom and I had planned a program for an evening and it turned out great. I am a fan of doing weddings this way! oh and my dress I bought online for $140.00 you would have never guessed. Really, you don't need a lot of money to create great inspiring things! My wedding shows that, I was so excited with how everything turned out, that day was so perfect.  oh...p.s. we had our bridesmaids and grooms, wear navy, the girls had white tops and navy skirts with gold shoes, groom men, grey pants navy tie, it was class. I also had the best photographer ever for my wedding, Thanks JESS!!! I also purchased a wedding topper from easy that was porcelain so I could keep it, and about the bingo cards all the guests were able to keep it!!! it was so fun!!!!

Spring Living.

my home.

its been fun, trying to figure out how I would like my newly married home to be. For our kitchen we are thinking or I am thinking of doing blue, white and more blue and white. I was inspired by the sunshine yesterday! The 3rd day of spring and all I want to do is run out side.

Eye for design- let the sunlight from the window add that extra touch of warmth to your home, I am a big fan of opening all the windows, its a good idea to stay in touch with our true creator, nature.
